March 9

Onward, ever onward...

Bikes are assembled for our Qeleni and Vuna Elders..

They will be able to travel more easily to distant villages.

We have been blessed to have internet in our home, our area seems to have the only internet on our island right now.

Very few breaks ...back to work

Our planning meeting..
Today we visit all member homes to arrange for  needed immediate materials for shelter and cooking.

This is the Navakawau Catholic School.
They have 150 students that attend here.

The correctional prisoners were repairing the roof today.

And cleaning debris.

This is the kindergarten. There are 20 pupils that usually attend. They did have 30 desks before the cyclone.

They hope to resume classes in another week.

This was their library. They no longer have any books that were savable.

This is a member home.

The Koroca's and there eight children lived here. They used pieces of material they were able to salvage to put together a shelter to sleep in. They have lost their pots and utensils.

Brother Muri's wife will be bringing a new baby home soon. This is their home where the church meetings were held prior to the cyclone.

The villagers, when asked if they have an item  reply ,"Winston took it" (with a smile on their face.)

This is Armani's home. He requested Scriptures for his family.

LDS Charities supplied hand saws, hammers, crowbars , rope and tarps for families to begin rebuilding.

We tried to make lists of things needed for shelter and food.

There were many work projects for the Elders to do today.

President Maiwiriwiri pulls out a few nails..
