April 9th Fun with the Missionaries

Enjoying the Missionaries

We are having fun with our 10 Taveuni and 2 Rabi Missionaries....
What a Beautiful island ! They call it the Garden Island.  The vegetation is so dense even the little children have machete's they use to walk cross country. As there are Boa constrictors...we will use the paths!

This is our own Dunn River Fall's ,just down the road from us , after a heavy rainfall. It has rained here every night for the past week.

This Elder Vermeeren Off Roading to visit one of our families. Most "back roads" are very similar to this.

Each Family makes their own mat which is brought out for guests to sit on when they come to visit.

The Vono Family  who are preparing to go to the Temple. They were baptized last December.

The Matei Branch all walked down to the ocean for a baptism.

Preparing for a baptism. The person to be baptized and the Elder walk out in the ocean about waist deep then the person is baptized by immersion as Jesus Christ was long ago.

We were planning on visiting the Falls with all the missionaries in our zone, but the road was washed out due to heavy rains this past week. We will try again another day!
Note: We are smiling. Fun can be had whatever the circumstances!

Our zone on P- Day or preparation day. The one day we have off to do whatever needs to be done... laundry, write home, play!

We went for plan B ,and found shelter elsewhere for games and home made treats from Canada!

This man tried hard to get across ,he'll have to stay on the far side till the road dries. It's all on Fiji Time around here!

The sunsets are beautiful!

A eat -out treat after a meeting. There are a few  small resort restaurants on the island.

Taveuni boasts a new chapel built about five years ago. Most people walk 2-3 hours to church each way. The other branch areas have much smaller chapels.

This is Ruthie , she is 72,  One of the older sisters on the island.( What does that make us?)

Our wonderful mosquitos net , that helps us get a good night sleep and no bites through out the night.
