July 11th

We are thrilled to have our Granddaughter Kaili Vermeeren on her way to the MTC (Missionary Training Centre) then to Lyon, France to serve an 18 month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We Love You, Kaili! You will always be in our prayers.

Joji Waqa says his goodbyes to his family, tomorrow morning he is on the boat to Suva , then on to the the MTC (Mission Training Centre) in New Zealand.

Joji and his brothers.

His sister in law and nieces and nephews say goodbye.

Joji with his brother and his cousin.

This will be Joji's first air flight.

The neighbours stop to wish him well.

He picks up garden crops to take to his mother in Suva. She is working there to help pay for his mission to Brisbane, Australia.

We stop by the Branch Presidents house.

Elder Vermeeren has paperwork to drop off.

Sister Alafi was Joji's seminary teacher. She is pleased that three of her students will be leaving for missions this year.

Sister Alafi shows us her outdoor kitchen she is building.

The rebuilding of the bridge near south Taveuni School is nearing completion.

The earth is moved to allow the water to reach the ocean.

The landscape is starting to look as it did before the storm.

There is still much rebuilding to do.

This weekend a seven's rugby tournament is being held.

A large shark came very close to shore.

Cooking, flipping and assembling food in time to the music was very entertaining.

Filling six food containers without missing a beat.......

takes talent..

A winning team comes off the field.

A market is held during the game. Crops and craft items are sold.

Many watch from family or organization "booths" to stay out of the sun.

Blankets, towels, and shirts, cover heads from the sun.

Uniforms for the teams..

Many stand by the ocean to watch the shark that has swam so close to the shore.

A small fair attracts many who can afford to ride.

Umbrella's provide excellent shade.

The program consists of several sunday school classes in the area dancing to gospel music.

Boys and girls in Lavalava's dance in unison. Beautiful to see and hear.

Getting a better view from the treetops.

Always bumping into friends.......

A hug from Sera.

Joji last day in Taveuni.

Elder Albert and Elder Grimed with our soon to be Elder Waqa.
