May 10th

Morning dawns in Taveuni....

Many of the Island saints are preparing to leave on the 4 A.M. ferry to go to Labasa for District Conference.

As it is Mother's day this weekend and our conference, the boats and buses are full...

Vanua Levu is a beautiful island...

A Savasavu Member received his mission call to the Philippines!



President and Sister Harward  are a Wonderful  couple from Utah. 

Elder Vermeeren, President Layton , Sister Lynette Layton, Sister Betty Harward, President Harward, Elder Petero, Sister Petero.

Arriving in Labasa we meet many familiar faces. 

A auxillary training meeting was held....


Over 100 women attended...over 100 men attended the Priesthood auxiliary Training..


Chair were set up for the Saturday and Sunday sessions...

Sister missionaries and Elders also attended...



A lovely lunch was prepared...

Our District Presidency was released.....



Another Taveuni Elder has completed his mission, Sami joined his family in Labasa for conference.. 



This is the newly released District Presidency.
Elder Vermeeren the executive secretary, President Petero 1st councillor, President Maiwiriwiri, and President Kalougata the 2nd councillor.



President Kalougata and his daughter. They will be  immigrating to Utah, to join the rest of their family.....
An Article in October 2004 ensign, entitled "The Lone Survivor" tells President Kalougata's story.

A Mother's Day breakfast, honouring  the senior moms from the nursing home, was held at the Grand Eastern Hotel...  



A group of young men came to serenade while breakfast was served...

Volunteers helped insure the received the help they needed...



A  boys chorus sang traditional songs .....

On Mother's day Boxes of food were brought for the meal after the morning conference..

The chapel and lawns were full of Saints. A record 735 people were in attendance...

We were delighted to see so many Taveuni Saints ..

We thought at least 100 had come from Taveuni...


Many helped prepare lunch after the conference..

Everyone was happy to see friends and neighbours...

As the ferry boats were full, we were invited to take this mission clinic boat with 25 others , another adventure...

Yes we were totally wet , but arrived back to Taveuni Safely.
