Here comes Sister Harward on the Ferry...

They are not very happy about it and are squealing and frantically trying to get out of the gunny sacks. It is quite a sight!
Many root crops are also loaded ,and yes people sit on benches with many interesting items around them.
This is Sister Baucabou , (pronounced Backabow) She is in the Somosomo primary presidency. Sister Harward gives her a little training as she sells her Roti sandwiches to people boarding the ship.
This is one of the scared piggies. He has poked a hole through his gunny sack. His little tail is wiggling.
The passengers just move over and make room for him....
This is the former home of the Fishers. Last week our Elders helped them move. A company bought the site. They are ripping it down to build a store.
This is President Maiwiriwiri .He is the District President. Elder Vermeeren is his executive secretary.
He was born in Taveuni. He is lots of fun,and loves green lollies.

Labasa for training. Some of the Prisoners came to load root crops that the grow and weed and pick as part of their work .
A guard is with them as they complete their duties.
The Elders will also be going to Labasa with us for the Zone conference.

On the Princess Ferry on our way to Buca Bay. This is about 1 1/2 hour trip.
Our driver enjoys swinging his bare feet as he steers the Ferry.
This is the Captain of the boat. Her grandfather built the ferry about 50 years ago. She now runs it six days a week.
The ocean is calm while we are in the Somosomo strait.
We are at the front of the boat .
This little house is right over the water. Not great if your a sleep walker. But wonderful if you want to be away from your neighbours.

After driving from Buca bay to Savasava, we stop at the zone leaders flat. Elder Gunderson and Elder Condie are getting ready to attend the conference.
Drive another 1 1/2 to Lambasa. The sugar cane capital of Fiji.Here thy are loading the cane onto the truck. Note that work is done by hand.

We have a lovely welcome dinner , with our Mission president , President Layton, who is sitting next to Elder Vermeeren.
This is the view out of our window. We are staying at a hotel called:The North Pole. (HoHoHo)
The next morning the senior couples prepare lunch for the Zone.
The Elders are in the area behind the chapel being trained.
The Senior Elders are setting up tables and chairs.
There are about fourty Elders in the Zone.
They enjoy being together for their training. There is always such a wonderful warm camaraderie at the training meetings. We have a Fiji Theme song that would bring tears to your eyes as the Elder s sing in angelic harmony.
We must surely have the BEST Mission and Best missionaries in the World!

The Elders are full and have a few minutes until classed start again.
We have six sister missionaries in our zone. They are beautiful inside and out!

The waves have picked up a little and we are rocking.
Rocking enough that all on our Elders fell asleep. They were all up at 3 a.m. to catch a bus form Labasa to Buca bay.We have amazing wonderful Elders.
